Taylor
Taylor Swift was a rarity in pop: she is the sole celebrity who transitioned from the traditional to the mainstream and become a global pop culture icon. Swift removed the influences of country as if they were an additional layer of skin. She revealed that she was among the best singers/songwriters of her generation. Swift could make the event personal and use the moment to benefit. The skills she displayed could be seen in the first songs she released, most notably the Neodue Tim McGraw. But on her sophomore album Fearless that came out in 2008, she was able to discover the person she was and reach audiences across the globe. The album was a huge success, not just on American soil, with six platinum-certified singles. The Top Ten songs Love Story & You Belong with Me were the primary reasons behind this. But, it also did well all over the world. Speak Now delivered almost two years later consolidated that popularity and pushed Swift to the heights of fame. The popularity of Swift only grew through her subsequent three albums -- Red (2012) 1989 (2014) as well as Reputation (2017) and Reputation in 2017 and saw her move confidently into a realm of pop music that she had already been a part of. When she reduced her sound by releasing stripped-down albums like 2020, Folklore, and Evermore, she still remained at the top. This position was maintained with the re-recordings she had made from her earlier catalog as in Midnights the synth-based chart-topper 2022 album.
