Ariana Grande-Butera,/,a.ri'a.n@ 'gra?ndeI/ ARIEAH-n@ GRAHN,day;[note 1,] born June 26, 1993) is an American performer, songwriter, and actress. Her unique use of the whistle register and four-octave vocal range are well-respected by critics and media. Grande has been awarded numerous awards over the course of her career. The most notable are two Grammy Awards. One Brit Award. Two Billboard Music Awards. Three American Music Awards. Nine MTV Video Music Awards. Thirty Guinness World Records.
Grande started her musical career at the age of 15 years old. She was in the Broadway musical 13 (2008 Broadway). Her character of Cat Valentine on Nickelodeon's Victorious (2010-2013), and Sam & Cat (2013) was her first big hit. After watching YouTube videos of Grande singing, Republic Records signed Grande to their label in 2011. The 1950s-doo-wop-inspired R&B and pop debut album"[2] Yours Truly (2013) was a hit and landed in the top ten of the US Billboard Hot 100. Grande's voice and whistle register on the album attracted immediate comparisons to Mariah Carey.
The third and second studio albums, My Everything (2014) & Dangerous Woman (2016), continued her exploration into pop and R&B. My Everything experimented with EDM and achieved global success with its singles "Problem", "Break Free" and "Bang Bang" and Dangerous Woman became her first of four consecutive albums that reached the top spot in the UK. Personal struggles influenced the fourth and fifth albums of her studio, which were infused with trap music. Sweetener (2018) and Thank U, Next (2019), both of which were critical and commercial successes. Sweetener received the Grammy Award as Best Pop Vocal Album. Thank U Next was nominated as an the album of the year and broke the record for streaming for the largest pop album. Grande was the first solo artist in history to be in the top three spots on the Hot 100 and become the first woman to be awarded the top spot in the UK Singles Chart with the singles "Thank U. Next", "7 Rings" and "Break up with Your Girlfriend. She beat the Hot 100 record for the most number-one debuts with Justin Bieber's collaboration in 2020 "Stuck with U" with Lady Gaga. The latter was awarded the Grammy Award for Best Pop Duo/Group Performance. Grande took on trap music with her sixth studio album Positions (2020), where both the album's title track and the album itself debuted at number one in the UK. Grande worked with The Weeknd on the remix of "Save Your Tears" and became her sixth US top-ranked single.
